  • President George Golfieri announced the winners of the SRJC Pedroncelli, and Mancini-Mitchell Scholarships and thanked the members of the Scholarship Committee. He also thanked all the volunteers and those that made donations to the Pizza, Birra & Vino party on July 30. 
  • October 6, 2024 – Sunday, 2-4 pm (doors open at 1:30) – Lecture by Author Kathleen Ann González at the NBICF Center. For more information about this lecture and the Finding History day on November 2, click here. 
  • October 20, 2024 – 2-7pm – Festa Italiana to celebrate Italian Heritage Month, 40th anniversary of NBICF and the 10th anniversary of CIBO Rustica Pizzeria at D’Argenzio Winery. Let’s celebrate an afternoon of “dolce vita“. To make this FREE event happen, we are calling on members to join in and help on the day of the event. Some areas that are in need are: Set up, Greet visitors, General help, and Clean up.

  • November 2, 2024 – NBICF will participate in Sonoma County Finding History Day presented by the Sonoma County Historical Society.

July-August 2024 Newsletter

  • NBICF President George Golfieri updates the membership on recent activities and thanking those who attended the June Mothers & Fathers Day Pranzo at the D’Argenzio Winery, the D’Argenzio Staff and Board Member Susan Macaluso who planned the event.  Approximately 50 guests attended, the food and wine pairings were outstanding and it was a beautiful day with seating under the grape arbor. 
  • The Board announced the recipients of the Sharie Sbrazza NBICF Florence study abroad scholarship for the 2024 spring semester. Each recipient was awarded a $1,455 scholarship. Since 1986, the Foundation has awarded 398 scholarships totaling $134,260.   • To commemorate the 248th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence the newsletter includes the origin of the great principle, “All Men are Created Equal” – paraphrased in an essay by Italian physician Filippo Mazzei, a friend of Thomas Jefferson. 
  • Save the Date: Sunday, October 20, 2024  for an afternoon mini festival at D’Argenzio Winery planned to celebrate Italian Heritage Month and to recognize the 40th anniversary of the North Bay Italian Cultural Foundation and the 10th anniversary of CIBO Rustico Pizzeria.
  • The next event is scheduled for July 30. This will be our 10th Annual Pizza, Birra & Vino affair from 5:30 to 8 pm at the Center.   • The newsletter provides contact information for our 2024 Business Members including a condensed background story about the origin of our newest Business Member, Saena Iulia School – a language school in Sienna. 
  • A Mangiamo Committee Chairperson is needed for 2025. This position requires coordinating the volunteer activities for dinner events. For more information members may contact current chairperson Susan Cole at colssn@aol.com.

  • NBICF President George Golfieri updates the membership on the recent scholarships awarded to SRJC Students and interesting statistics about the Foundation’s Scholarship program. George thanks the membership for the support of recent events, e.g. “Italian Language for Youth” and the “Pizza, Birra & Vino” event.  Members interested in serving on the Board of Directors are invited to contact George or any Board Member in September for service in 2024 – Election scheduled for November.
  • Win a Trip to Italy for 2 – 10 Days in Tuscany,  First Prize includes airfare, lodging, and transportation. Trip to be taken in Fall 2024. Drawing – December 2023 or when all tickets sold.   • October 9, 2023 – Monday at the St. Rose Parish Hall. Dinner will be prepared by Chef Cesar Orozco from Sonoma County Catering Co. Doors open at 5 Dinner at 6 pm.   • Sonoma County Historical Society Presents Sonoma County Finding History Day October 21 – 10am-2pm, Finley Community Center, Santa Rosa. NBICF historian Kathy Dowdall presents information & displays on local Italian family history including the history of Little Italy on the  Santa Rosa West side.
  • Mangiamo Committee Chairperson Susan Cole thanks volunteers who have worked so hard to make recent events successful and introduces our new chef who will cook for our October dinner.

Message from the Board of Directors

We are all facing challenging times with a lot of uncertainty and anxiety regarding the current health crisis. The Board remains focused on the health, safety and well-being of our members, their families, friends and community at large. The Board is meeting in July to assess current conditions and alternatives for future activities.

The Foundation would like to congratulate the following scholarship recipients:

  • Beth Power:  $500 NBICFscholarship for Italian Studies at Santa Rosa Junior College;
  • Sara Fraker:  $450 Marianne Pedroncellischolarship for Italian studies;
  • Zehua He:      $900 Bill and Jeanette Mancini Mitchellscholarship for educators with a course in Italian or an Italy study abroad experience.

The North Bay Italian Cultural Foundation scholarship program has awarded over
$123,000 to students for Italian Studies.

Italian Citizenship Assistance (ICA) joined NBICF as a new business member. ICA is one of the largest Italian-American firms that provides assistance to individuals of Italian descent who are interested in obtaining dual citizenship. NBICF Scholarships – Fall 2018

NBICF Scholarships at Santa Rosa Junior College

The NBICF Scholarships are offered to students of SRJC Italian Language Studies. NBICF will award three $500 scholarships to students of Italian 1, 2, or 3 for the Fall Semester 2018.  Visit the Scholarship page for additional information and an application by clicking here.  The deadline for applications is Friday, October 26. Consideration will be given to NBICF members and to their immediate family. Scholarship recipients will be asked to volunteer in some capacity at an NBICF event. The Scholarship page also has links and information about the SRJC Italian Language Program.

Santa Rosa Junior Scholarship Program – NBICF offers several annual scholarships to promote Italian-inspired and Italian Language studies. Three $500 scholarships to students of Italian 1, 2, 3 or 4 will be awarded for the Spring Semester 2018. Additionally,  the Marianne Pedroncelli and the Jeanette Mancini-Mitchell Scholarships will be awarded this Spring. For information and application procedure, visit the Scholarship page.

NBICF Scholarships for SRJC Students

NBICF Scholarships for SRJC Students Available

The NBICF Scholarships are offered to students of Italian Language Studies in the Fall & Spring Semesters. NBICF will award three $500 scholarships to students of Italian 1, 2, 3 or 4 for the Spring Semester 2017.  Click here to view the application procedure. The deadline for applications is February 24, 2017.

The Marianne Pedroncelli Scholarship Fund was established in 1996. This scholarship of $425 will be awarded to students in any discipline in which the student’s academic pursuits have a direct link to Italy or the Italo-American experience.  Click here to view the application procedure. The deadline for applications is March 3, 2017.

The Jeanette Mancini Mitchell Scholarship Fund was established in 2014. This $700 scholarship is for future educators with a course in Italian or an Italy Study Abroad experience. Click here to view the application procedure.  The deadline for applications is March 3, 2017.

NIAF Scholarship – Performing Arts Management

NIAF TO AWARD A FULL-TUITION SCHOLARSHIP AT  ACCADEMIA TEATRO ALLA SCALA IN MILAN,ITALY

The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) offers a full-tuition scholarship in Performing Arts Management. This scholarship is offered in partnership with Accademia Teatro alla Scala, one of the most renowned institutions for training professionals in the performing arts, and Politecnico di Milano Graduate School of Business (MIP), an internationally recognized management school. The full-tuition scholarship of 13,500 euros (approximately $14,500) will be awarded to an Italian American graduate student who is seeking a Master’s Degree in Performing Arts Management.

NBICF Scholarships for Spring 2016

NBICF Santa Rosa Junior College Spring Semester Scholarship Program

Since the NBICF Scholarship Program was established in 1986, more than $100,000 has been awarded. For the 2016 Spring Semester, we are pleased to offer seven scholarships to qualified students at Santa Rosa Junior College:

  • Marianne Pedroncelli Scholarship to a student whose academic pursuits have a direct link to Italy or the Italo-American experience, either past or present.
  • Jeannette Mancini Mitchell Scholarship to a future educator with a course in Italian or an Italy Study Abroad experience. 
  • Five NBICF Scholarships to students enrolled in Italian language classes. Consideration will be given to current NBICF members and members of their immediate family.
